The Nurse Assistant provides patient care activities as directed by the nursing staff, in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
An equivalent amount of training, education, and experience will be considered. Up to one
year of job related prior experience preferred. Successful completion of Nursing Assistant Certification required. The associate should be skilled at verbal and written communication. The associate should have the ability to provide daily direct service to external customers.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITES:
Assumes responsibility to care for assigned patients. Bathes patients, gives mouth and skin care, assists with grooming when indicated, delivers and removes bed pans, applies ice bags, hot water bottles, prepares and feeds patients requiring help, provides between meal nourishment, and provides fresh drinking water when indicated. Responds promptly and cooperatively to direction given by nursing staff and completes in a timely manner.
· Transports patients to treatment units and assist with Physician in seeing patients.
· Monitors assigned patient.
· Assures assigned patients are turned every two hours to prevent decubitus or contracture.
· Collects charts, records, reports, and delivers them to authorized personnel.
· Collects and labels specimens and assist nursing staff as needed in collection of specimens, 24 hour urines, etc.
· Records patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
· Direct patient and assist in changing bed linens.
