JOB SUMMARY:
Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist in preparation of medications for distribution to long term care facilities based on the physician orders and prescriptions. Accomplish this by following departmental policies and procedures within the scope of long term care pharmacy standards. Performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•· Develops a current knowledge of Long Term Care (LTC) pharmacy policies & procedures & supports them.
•· Assists the pharmacist(s) on duty as their primary responsibility; performing these duties as the number one priority.
•· Fills daily drug orders accurately and efficiently in a timely manner, under the supervision of a pharmacist.
•· Assists the purchaser in restocking pharmacy shelves with supplies, drugs, etc., as needed.
•· Reorders out of stock or low inventory items by writing them down on the "want book: If trained, assist in ordering drugs from wholesaler via telxon, etc., as needed.
•· Assists in quarterly physical inventory of pharmacy, or more often if needed.
•· Assists in processing returned drugs and recycle/dispose per procedure.
•· Review facility pre-list and prepare 31 day cards with the appropriate drug for the full fill.
•· Assists in monthly fulfills by delivering and exchanging medications to scheduled nursing home.
•· Assist in pre-packing frequently ordered medications, label, and store, as needed during low volume times.
•· Assists in bagging drugs and place in proper area in warehouse to be delivered.
•· At end of day, cleans up work area; wipes down countertops, and puts away drugs. Stock up work areas with cards and bubbles for next day.
•· Practice infection control by using good hand washing technique to ensure 100% asepsis.
•· Work at maintaining excellent rapport with co-workers, and long term care facility personnel.
•· Must be able to work rotating schedules, evenings and weekends.
•· Answer telephone in a professional manner; displays polite and courteous tone.
•· Any and all other duties as assigned by pharmacy management or as requested by staff pharmacist.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

•· High School Diploma or GED.
•· Certification as a pharmacy technician preferred.
•· Must acquire/maintain pharmacy technician license within days of hire and annually thereafter.
•· One to two years Pharmacy experience preferred.
•· Must learn abbreviations, brand and generic comparisons c., for interpreting prescriptions for filling.
•· Minor calculations regarding compounds and IV's.
•· Knowledge of business English, spelling and commercial arithmetic.
•· Ability to interpret and follow oral and written instructions.
•· Ability to operate office machines which do not require special training other than skills which may be acquired on the job.
•· Ability to drive to facilities throughout the covered area.
•· Some overnight travel may be required.
•· Ability to write in a clear and legible manner.
•· Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public.
TITLE: Adjudication Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Accounts Receivable
CURRENT SCHEDULE: Full Time position. 3rd Shift
Schedule may vary with department needs.
Primary responsibilities: Enter and verify the required new/re-admission information into the pharmacy system before the order is delivered, or within 24 - 48 hours for after-hours admits. . Provide accurate and timely billing of all proper payor sources including follow up on claim reimbursement with Third Party Insurance Companies, Medicare Part D and State Medicaid. Provide on-going client support. Performs other duties as assigned.
•· Receive and review new/re-admissions and face sheets; Enter and verify the required new/re-admission information; Verify payor source with 24 - 48 hours of admission; Work iAstral Medicaid Eligibility Report daily; Review and input NoPP information; Review and input Waiver information; Work Admit Report daily; Work Billing Error Report daily; Work Incomplete Customer Report as assigned; Work Customer SSN Report as assigned; Maintain an on-line daily log of activity in central file.
•· Handles customer phone calls or inquires through the mail; Submits all Third Party (State Medicaid, Insurance, and Medicaid Part D) claims for payment; Contact facilities, doctors, responsible party and/or payers in regards to issues such as rejections and prior authorizations; Update patient information; Research and submit manual adjustments; Maintain third party procedures; Prepare facility notifications forms; Be able to follow all facility special instruction rules; Resolve denials resulting from claim submissions; Be able to coordinate own work detail; Have accurate, thorough, and neat work; Work together as a team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
•· High School education or equivalent.
•· Missouri Pharmacy Technician Licensed Required.
•· Demonstration of knowledge of office machines associated with the position, including Windows based PC.
•· Demonstration of excellent organizational skills.
•· Minimum experience of one year as a clerk in bookkeeping/accounting or formal educational training in bookkeeping/accounting. One year third party insurance, Medicare, and/or Medicaid billing experience preferred.
•· Demonstration of high degree of excellent communication and interactive skills.
•· Knowledge of pharmacy products and terminology preferred.
•· Demonstration of high degree of motivation and self discipline with ability to prioritize own workload and adapt to new procedures.
