Physician Assistant - Illinois Southwest Orthopedics

Illinois Southwest Orthopedic, LTD Practice was established in 1990 and consists of 6 board certified physicians, with the following ancillary departments: MRI, physical therapy, radiology and durable medical equipment. There are two main office locations: Glen Carbon and Granite City, IL. Our doctors do go to other hospitals for weekly clinics. The Physician Assistants work with one physician and should be able to see patients in the office and assist in surgery. On average each physician performs 20-30 surgeries per month. Job Description: A Physician Assistant, while practicing medicine under the protocols of a supervising Orthopedic Surgeon, will utilize his/her skills, knowledge, and experience to obtain complete medical histories, perform comprehensive examinations, order and initially interpret diagnostic laboratory and radiological studies, collaborates with patient and supervising Orthopedic Surgeon in the planning of therapeutic interventions for the care of this patient population. Hours of Work: Available to work regularly scheduled shifts, Monday through Friday. Call requirement for evening, nights, weekends and holidays. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university and have completed a Physician Assistant Education Program approved by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA). · Board Certified by the NCCPA. · CPR Certified · ACLS Certified · Current Illinois Physician Assistant license. LANUAGE SKILLS: Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of health care providers, patients, and family members. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
