Position Summary:
The C.N.A. is a certified nurse aide who provides compassionate care to the terminally ill by performing assigned tasks of personal care for each patient according to the Home Health Aide Assignment Sheet and under established St. Anthony's Hospice/de Greeff Hospice House policies and procedures. Personal care includes, but is not limited to bathing, hair care, mouth care, vital signs, socialization and assistance with meals.
Position Qualifications:
One year experience as a Home Health Aide required. Experience with issues relating to bereavement and the terminally ill patient preferred. Understands Hospice philosophy and is comfortable providing specialized care to the terminally ill. Possess empathy for the needs of the terminally ill, their families and/or caregivers. Is self directed with the ability to work with little direct supervision other than the written patient Home Health Aide Assignment Sheet. Complies with St. Anthony's Hospice/de Greeff Hospice status requirements. Is flexible and cooperative in fulfilling a role within the interdisciplinary team.Must be a licensed driver.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Home Health Aide Certification or Certified Nurse Equivalent.(A combination of patient care experience and patient care training consisting of a minimum of 60 hours of classroom instruction plus a minimum of 16 hours of supervised practical training in the competency areas specified in the Home Health Aide Competency Evaluation checklist. Must have a passing grade on the written Home Health Aide Competency Test required by the State of Missouri.
Education Requirements:
Must maintain current CPR certification. Must maintain current PPD.
